MUSKEGON, Mich. – A Saturday afternoon shooting in a residential Muskegon neighborhood has left two people dead and three others injured, including a 4-year-old child, according to police.

Muskegon Police have identified the suspect as Dewaun Deshawn Robinson, 25. Authorities confirmed Robinson is currently in custody and is being treated at a local hospital for gunshot wounds he sustained during the incident.
What Happened
Police were called to a home in the 600 block of Jackson Avenue in the Jackson Hill neighborhood around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Upon arrival, officers found multiple shooting victims. A 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released.
Three other victims were injured and transported for medical care. Among them was a 4-year-old child who, police say, sustained minor injuries and was expected to be released from the hospital.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities stated the shooting does not appear to be a random act. They noted that Robinson has a prior criminal history involving home invasion offenses, though they did not specify a connection to Saturday’s events.
Muskegon Mayor Ken Johnson issued a statement calling for community support. “Let’s hold the victims, their families, our neighbors, and all the first responders and medical professionals in our hearts, prayers, and thoughts,” Johnson said.
