A large police presence was seen in Bayside on Monday following a shooting that left a teenage boy injured and prompted major road closures in the area.
Authorities said officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Springfield Boulevard and Union Turnpike, where they discovered a 15-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel provided treatment at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Investigators said the suspect, described as a Black male, fled the scene on foot toward Hillside Avenue. Police units, including members of the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit (ESU), quickly cordoned off the area as detectives collected evidence, including several shell casings.
Witnesses are being questioned as authorities work to determine the motive behind the shooting.
Residents have been urged to avoid the area as Springfield Boulevard remains closed during the ongoing investigation.
Community members have expressed concern over the violence, urging prayers and support for the young victim and his family.
