A sense of grief and disbelief has swept through the Pooler community following the tragic death of 48-year-old Montique E. Jenkins, who was found fatally shot inside a home on Arnold Street on the afternoon of Saturday, November 1, 2025, according to the Pooler Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting around 3:30 p.m., where they discovered Jenkins suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken.

Police confirmed that the suspect and Jenkins were acquainted, describing the incident as isolated with no ongoing threat to the public. The suspect — whose identity has not yet been released — was taken into custody later that day without incident. Authorities are now working closely with the Chatham County Coroner’s Office to perform an autopsy and piece together the events that led to Jenkins’s death.
