Chicago authorities arrested 30-year-old Isaiah Martinez on Monday following a violent encounter with police on the Northwest Side. Martinez allegedly shot a Chicago police officer during a traffic stop and crashed into a police vehicle before fleeing on foot.
The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. near the 4900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. Officers were conducting a routine traffic stop when Martinez reportedly fired a shot, striking a police officer, and then collided with a second police vehicle at the scene.

Martinez was taken into custody in the 6100 block of West Eastwood Avenue. He faces nine charges, including:
Attempted first-degree murder
Aggravated discharge of a firearm
Armed violence
Aggravated battery of a peace officer
Possession of a firearm by a repeat offender
Aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle
Damage to government property
Attempt to elude a police officer
Three traffic violations
