Beyond real estate, Bob “Tunda” Hupp was a giant in the world of music. A staple in the Nebraska Rock ‘n’ Roll scene, he made a lasting impact as a singer, songwriter, comedian, and music historian. Bob’s music journey began at just 14 years old and spanned over six decades. He had the privilege of performing alongside iconic artists such as The Everly Brothers, Tammy Wynette, Chubby Checker, REO Speedwagon, and The Beach Boys, among many others. His music was a constant source of joy for audiences far and wide, and his performances were nothing short of legendary.
Bob was also an integral part of the renowned Nebraska band, The Smoke Ring. Formed in 1962, The Smoke Ring, under Bob’s leadership, became one of the state’s most celebrated musical acts. The band’s hit “No Not Much” and their national TV appearances, including on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, cemented their place in rock history. Bob’s contribution to both the band and the broader music scene remains cherished by all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Bob, we honor the impact he had in every space he occupied—whether on stage, in the office, or within his community. His wit, warmth, and talent will continue to resonate with everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
