Rockford, IL – Authorities have identified the woman shot and killed early Tuesday morning in Rockford as 34-year-old Katlyn Acord, a devoted mother of two remembered by family and friends for her kindness, strength, and love for her children.
Rockford Police said officers were called to the 900 block of Kishwaukee Street shortly after 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday. When they arrived, Acord was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and investigators have not released information about any possible suspects. Police say the case remains under active investigation.
In a separate but nearby incident, a man was also found dead Tuesday in the 24th Street area, though authorities have not confirmed whether the two cases are connected.
