ROME, Ga. — Authorities have identified Kaylee B. Shackelford, a 20-year-old woman from Powell, Tennessee, as the victim of a homicide discovered early Sunday in the John Graham Homes public housing complex near Hull Avenue and Cedar Avenue.
Rome Police say the killing appears to stem from a deadly love triangle involving Shackelford’s boyfriend, 23-year-old Mystique Malachi Amaziah Taylor, and 25-year-old Rolanda Monique Edwards of Georgia, with whom Taylor had begun an online romantic relationship.

Investigators state that neither Shackelford nor Taylor are residents of Rome or Floyd County. Shackelford’s body was found covered with blankets in the housing complex. Witnesses reported seeing a red passenger vehicle in the area shortly before the discovery.
That vehicle was located and stopped hours later in neighboring Bartow County with the help of multiple agencies. Taylor and Edwards were taken into custody and remain held without bond at the Floyd County Jail on multiple felony charges connected to the homicide. Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
“This case moved quickly because of alert citizens who came forward with critical information,” Rome Police said in a statement Tuesday. “We are deeply grateful for their cooperation.”
Detectives emphasize there is no ongoing threat to the public.
