The southbound lanes of Highway 67 have reopened following a tragic rollover crash on Friday night that resulted in the deaths of two people. The collision occurred just north of the Highway 15 interchange, prompting an extensive emergency response and a temporary closure of the roadway as authorities investigated the scene.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer confirmed that 61-year-old Ronald Lechner of D’Iberville died at the scene. According to the investigation, Lechner had been traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 67 when he collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Brittany Hodges of Ocean Springs. The impact caused Lechner’s truck to overturn. Authorities found his seatbelt unbuckled at the scene. Hodges, who was wearing her seatbelt, was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
