San Diego, CA — Authorities are investigating a shooting in the Chollas View neighborhood that left an 18-year-old injured and prompted a temporary lockdown at a local middle school on Tuesday afternoon.
San Diego Police say officers responded shortly before 1 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of 47th Street, near Gompers Preparatory Academy. As a safety precaution, the school was immediately placed on lockdown while officers searched the area for the suspect.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The identity of the individual has not been released.
Police have not yet provided a description of the suspect, and it remains unclear whether the victim and shooter were known to each other or what led to the incident.
