The town of Savanna-la-Mar has been left reeling after the body of 29-year-old Kerrian Malcolm, who was reported missing on Thursday, October 2, was discovered stuffed inside a suitcase near Gully Banks on Saturday morning.

Malcolm, a resident of Barracks Road, was last seen alive around 11 p.m. on Thursday night at her home, dressed in a brown sleeveless blouse and blue-and-white shorts. When loved ones were unable to reach her, they filed a missing person’s report with the Savanna-la-Mar Police.
The grim discovery came when residents stumbled upon a suitcase in the Gully Banks area and alerted authorities. Police investigators, accompanied by the Scenes of Crime Unit, confirmed the remains were Malcolm’s following forensic testing. Her death has since been classified as murder.
Investigation Ongoing
Detectives from the Westmoreland Police Division have launched a full-scale probe into the case. While the official cause of death has not yet been released, law enforcement officials say the circumstances strongly suggest foul play. No suspects have been publicly identified.
“This is beyond heartbreaking,” one resident told reporters. “Kerrian was a quiet, hardworking young woman. Nobody deserved what happened to her.”
Community Mourning
Tributes have poured in from relatives, friends, and community members, who described Malcolm as a kindhearted and loving young woman with her future ahead of her. Social media platforms have since been flooded with messages of grief and disbelief.
“Kerrian didn’t deserve this,” wrote one friend. “She had her whole life ahead of her.”

Police are again urging anyone with knowledge of Malcolm’s last movements or who may have witnessed unusual activity in the Gully Banks area to come forward. Information can be shared with the Savanna-la-Mar Police at (876) 955-2536, the 119 emergency line, or the nearest police station.
Community leaders are also calling for unity and cooperation to help ensure justice is served.
