Toronto police said they were called to the busy shopping mall shortly before 2 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Inside a washroom, officers discovered Daniel suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have since ruled the case a homicide.
