Authorities in Shelby Township say a 25-year-old man is facing a charge of first-degree premeditated murder after his estranged wife was brutally attacked and killed during a custody exchange at a local gas station.

The incident took place around 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, at the Meijer gas station on Hall Road near Hayes Road. Investigators allege that the suspect, identified as Sydney Emmanuel Davis Jr., violently beat and stabbed 23-year-old Fatme “Stella” Davis in front of their toddler.
The couple’s 1-year-old son, Elliot, who was seated in a nearby vehicle, was not injured. He is currently in the care of his paternal grandmother.
Fatme was rushed to a hospital after the attack but later died of her injuries.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Following the assault, Davis was taken into custody in Armada Township. He appeared in 41A District Court on Wednesday, September 24, where a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. He was denied bond.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido described the case as “shocking and deeply disturbing,” emphasizing the tragic circumstances in which a young mother was killed while her child waited nearby. Davis is scheduled to return to court for a probable cause hearing on October 7 at 1 p.m., with a preliminary exam on October 14 at 1 p.m.

“She carried herself with quiet strength and never hesitated to lift others up, even when she was fighting her own battles,” her family shared. “Her love for Elliot was her world, and the bond they shared was unbreakable.”
Family and friends are mourning the loss of a daughter, sister, friend, and mother taken far too soon.
