The Smyrna Police Department is under investigation following a fatal officer-involved shooting early Friday morning. At approximately 6 a.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on a U-Haul truck near the intersection of Concord Road and McLinden Avenue SE. The vehicle was reported stolen.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), during the encounter, at least one officer discharged their firearm, fatally wounding the driver. The identity of the deceased has not been released, and no officers were injured in the incident.
