Born and raised in South Huntington, Mason was a proud graduate of Walt Whitman High School, where he was known for his humor, energy, and ability to brighten any room with his smile. He carried that same warmth into his service with the Huntington Manor Fire Department, where he answered countless calls and risked his life to protect others.
The department’s Chief’s Office released a solemn statement following his passing:
“It is with deep sadness the Chiefs office regrets to announce that Firefighter Mason Kraese has answered his last alarm. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kraese and Steenson families. Rest in Peace brother, you will be missed.”
In addition to his firefighting service, Mason was also a proud member of the Steamfitters Local Union 638, embodying the values of hard work, dedication, and camaraderie. Friends and colleagues alike described him as a loyal teammate, a dependable friend, and a young man who lived life with passion and generosity.
