Southfield Hotel Parking Lot Execution: Detroit Man, 40, Gunned Down in Targeted Midnight Hit
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A Detroit father celebrating a friend’s birthday became the city’s latest homicide victim early Sunday when he was ambushed and shot multiple times in the parking lot of the Radisson Hotel on Telegraph Road.

Southfield Police say officers were called to 26555 Telegraph Rd. at 2:47 a.m. after guests reported hearing at least eight gunshots followed by tires screeching.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY - GOD BLESS YOU

Responding officers found the 40-year-old victim collapsed between parked cars, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and legs. Despite lifesaving efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until family notification is complete.

Detectives say surveillance footage shows the gunman – described only as a Black male wearing dark clothing and a mask – walking directly up to the victim as he returned to his car, firing at point-blank range, then fleeing in a waiting dark-colored sedan.

Police emphasize the attack was targeted and the shooter and victim knew each other.

“He wasn’t robbed. His wallet, jewelry, and phone were all still on him,” a police source told local media. “This was personal.”
Witnesses inside the hotel say the victim had been part of a small birthday gathering in one of the banquet rooms earlier in the night. The party broke up without incident around 2:30 a.m.

The Radisson has turned over all security footage and guest records to investigators. Southfield Police and Michigan State Police crime-lab units spent Sunday processing the scene.

Anyone who was in the area of Telegraph and 11 Mile between 2 and 3 a.m. or who has dash-cam video is urged to call Southfield
Police at 248-796-5500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

Another Sunday morning, another parking-lot grave. Police say they’re close, but for one Detroit family, “close” isn’t soon enough.

Investigation continues. 🕊️
