Authorities in Springdale, Arkansas, have arrested a man accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a local cyclist on Thursday night, October 9, 2025.
According to a statement from the Springdale Police Department (SPD), officers and emergency crews responded to reports of a cyclist being struck by a vehicle around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 71 and Don Tyson Parkway.

The victim, identified as Juliet Jabuwe-Komanta of Springdale, was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators quickly began reviewing surveillance footage from the area, which showed a white Honda Pilot near the scene at the time of the collision. Through further investigation, detectives identified 26-year-old Jose Medina as the suspected driver.
Police say Medina admitted to striking the cyclist while making a right turn at the intersection. He told officers that he initially stopped but panicked and left the scene.
Medina has been booked into the Washington County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond. He faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and is scheduled to appear in court on October 31.
