The community of St. Charles, Missouri, is in shock following the arrest of a local mother accused of killing her teenage son inside their home on Monday morning.
Police say Krista Roy, 47, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action after investigators determined she fatally stabbed and shot her 16-year-old son.
Authorities responded around 10:57 a.m. to a home on the 3200 block of Lightfoot Drive for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenager deceased from multiple injuries. Detectives later located Roy, who confessed to the crime, according to police.
The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has confirmed that Roy is being held at the county jail on a $1 million cash-only bond. A motive has not been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
Neighbors have expressed deep sorrow and disbelief at the tragedy, describing the case as one of the most disturbing incidents to strike their community in recent memory.
