
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Officials have identified the woman fatally struck in a hit-and-run on Interstate 70 as 38-year-old Heather Crews of St. Louis.
The incident occurred in the early hours of October 2 at approximately 5:30 a.m., near Adelaide Avenue along the westbound lanes of I-70.
Reports indicate Ms. Crews had mounted a fence and walked toward the highway when she was struck by at least one vehicle.
Investigators believe she first paused to allow traffic to clear before attempting to cross.
After the initial collision, additional vehicles may have hit her, but none of the drivers remained at the scene.
Crews was pronounced dead at the location by emergency responders.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has assigned its Accident Reconstruction team and District 6 detectives to conduct the investigation.
