Authorities are investigating the homicide of a 48-year-old Statesboro resident whose body was discovered on South Main Street in Statesboro after a multi-state search.
The investigation began on October 11, 2025, when the victim’s mother reported him missing to the Statesboro Police Department (SPD), expressing concern after not seeing her son for several days. She provided a description of his vehicle and license plate, which were entered into NCIC and the Flock tag reader system.

Detectives quickly traced the victim’s phone, which showed it had left Bulloch County, and learned he was last seen with 49-year-old Randall Lamar Williams of Statesboro. Using the Flock system, authorities located the missing man’s vehicle near Cincinnati, Ohio.
During an attempted traffic stop by the Lockland Police Department, the vehicle fled, prompting a pursuit. Williams was taken into custody along with a 17-year-old female passenger, but the missing man was not in the vehicle.
Coordinated efforts between SPD detectives, Lockland P.D., and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department led to a search of an abandoned residence in Statesboro, where the victim’s body was recovered. Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity and the details of his injuries pending an autopsy by the GBI Coastal Crime Lab. The death is being treated as a homicide.
Williams currently faces active warrants for Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault through the Statesboro Police Department and will be extradited from Ohio, where he remains incarcerated on charges related to the vehicle pursuit.
SPD officials thanked the Ohio law enforcement agencies for their cooperation and assistance in resolving the case.
