The Strathroy, Ontario community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Silas Timothy Zekveld, a vibrant and joyful 3.5-year-old boy who passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, after a tragic farm accident.
Silas, described by his family as a light in their lives, was known for his infectious smile, curiosity, and love for animals. He shared a special bond with his younger brother, Jerry, bringing laughter and joy to their household every day. Friends and family remember Silas for his kind heart, enthusiasm for life, and deep affection for his loved ones.

One of Silas’s most cherished qualities was his love for singing and memorizing Scripture. Every Sunday, he would joyfully recite Psalm 84, ending with the line: “Blessed is the man who trusts in You!” — a testament to his remarkable spirit and faith.
In the wake of this tragedy, the Zekveld family takes comfort in their faith, trusting that Silas is now in the loving arms of Jesus and free from the hardships of this world.
Funeral arrangements have been announced to allow the community to pay their respects:
Visitation: Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Providence United Reformed Church, 447 Second Street, Strathroy, Ontario.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 10:30 am at the church, followed by a luncheon for family and friends.
Family Committal Service: Kirkwall Cemetery at 4:00 pm.
The Zekveld family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time, sharing their hope in eternal life and the promise of being reunited with Silas one day.
