Tragedy struck along Interstate 82 late Saturday night when 29-year-old Jorge G. Estrada Martinez of Sunnyside was fatally struck while standing on the highway’s shoulder. The collision occurred around 10:25 p.m. near Exit 69.
According to state troopers, the driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Felix Angiano, was behind the wheel of a Honda Pilot when the incident unfolded. Martinez sustained catastrophic injuries in the crash, and despite immediate lifesaving efforts by emergency crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
