The SUNY Cobleskill community is reeling after a student from the School of Agriculture & Technology tragically lost their life in a pedestrian-motor vehicle accident on campus. The incident, which occurred during the evening hours, has sent shockwaves through the college, as students, faculty, and staff cope with the unexpected and heartbreaking loss of a fellow member.
In a statement released by the college, SUNY Cobleskill confirmed the incident and expressed their deep sorrow:

“We are saddened to inform the campus community that a SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech student has passed away following a pedestrian/motor vehicle accident this evening. Emergency responders and law enforcement were immediately engaged, and the student’s parents have been notified. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Despite the rapid response from campus security, emergency medical personnel, and local law enforcement, the student tragically succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident. The driver involved in the incident has remained on site and is fully cooperating with the investigation as authorities work to piece together the events leading to this tragic loss.
Though the student’s identity has not yet been released out of respect for the family’s wishes, they were well-known within the Ag & Tech program, admired for their dedication, hard work, and involvement in both academic and extracurricular activities.
