NEW YORK — Frederick Green, the 20-year-old Bronx man accused of shooting New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd last month, was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court late Tuesday and ordered held without bail on charges including attempted murder.
Green, who had been on the run for nearly three weeks, was captured Monday at an apartment complex near the University at Buffalo after U.S. Marshals and local police surrounded the building with a canine unit. Authorities say Green had drastically altered his appearance in an apparent attempt to evade capture.

Prosecutors allege that on November 16, shortly after 2 a.m., Boyd was leaving a midtown Manhattan restaurant with teammates Irvin Charles and Jamien Sherwood when a group of men began mocking the players’ clothing. The verbal confrontation quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which Green allegedly pulled a firearm and shot Boyd once in the abdomen.
Surveillance video captured Green entering the venue around 12:30 a.m., leaving just after 2 a.m. while putting on a mask, and later appearing in Harlem before fleeing the city. He did not enter a plea during Tuesday’s brief court appearance. His defense attorney has not yet commented publicly.
Boyd, 28, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but has shown remarkable progress in his recovery. Several weeks after the shooting, he made a surprise visit to the Jets’ practice facility, attending a special-teams meeting and drawing emotional reactions from teammates.
Signed by the Jets earlier this year, Boyd has yet to appear in a regular-season game for the team after suffering an injury in training camp. A former Minnesota Vikings fourth-round pick, he spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans before landing in New York.
The case has stunned the NFL community and highlighted the dangers professional athletes can face off the field. Green remains in custody as the investigation continues.
