A quiet afternoon in Tampa’s Bayshore Gardens neighborhood turned tragic on Tuesday after a deadly domestic incident left two people dead inside a home on West Texas Avenue.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of West Texas Avenue. When they arrived, they found two victims — a man and a woman — both deceased from gunshot wounds.

Investigators later identified the individuals as 49-year-old Dimitrios Charalambakis and 24-year-old Nashelie Saladini Rivera. Detectives believe Charalambakis fatally shot Rivera before turning the gun on himself in what authorities have described as an apparent murder-suicide.
“This appears to be a heartbreaking case of domestic violence that claimed two lives,” a Tampa Police spokesperson said. “Our detectives are working diligently to understand what led to this tragedy.”
Sections of Texas Avenue were cordoned off for several hours as forensic teams gathered evidence and documented the scene. Authorities confirmed that no one else was injured and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Family and friends of Nashelie Rivera have been left devastated by the loss. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, Rivera had recently relocated to Tampa to begin a new chapter in her life. Loved ones described her as vibrant, kindhearted, and full of life. Plans are underway for a balloon release to honor her memory ahead of what would have been her 25th birthday on October 24, 2025.
