Authorities in Riverside County are investigating a deadly shooting that left one teenager dead and two others fighting for their lives earlier this month.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 4 a.m. on August 2 to the 49000 block of Corte Molino after reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, deputies found three young males suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts at the scene, one victim — 17-year-old Alberto Castillo Jr. of Coachella — was pronounced dead. The other two victims, both adolescent males, were rushed to nearby hospitals where they remain in critical condition.
The shooting has left the Coachella community shaken, as friends and family members mourn the loss of Castillo while anxiously awaiting word on the recovery of the surviving victims.
Authorities said investigators have not identified any suspects or disclosed possible motives. Detectives continue to canvass the neighborhood, collect evidence, and interview potential witnesses as part of the active investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact law enforcement immediately.
