Schuyler County, NY — Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of Thomas J. Gaylor, 41, early Tuesday morning in the Town of Montour.
According to the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Mitchell Hollow Road around 5:36 a.m. on September 16, 2025. When they arrived, they found a white 2014 Honda that had left the roadway. Gaylor, the vehicle’s only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings from the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division indicate that excessive speed contributed to the accident.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Schuyler County Coroner’s Office, Odessa Fire Department, Montour Falls Fire Department, Centralus Health EMS, and Wolfe’s Garage, which handled the vehicle recovery.
The crash remains under investigation as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding Gaylor’s death.
