A shooting early Sunday morning at Carreker East residence hall at Oklahoma State University left three people injured, casting a somber tone over the school’s homecoming weekend festivities.
The OSU Police Department responded around 3:40 a.m. after receiving reports from victims who had been shot. Authorities confirmed that at least one victim is an enrolled OSU student. All three individuals were transported to hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, with their current conditions not publicly released.

Preliminary reports suggest the incident may have stemmed from an off-campus party late Saturday night that moved into the dormitory in the early hours of Sunday. It was during this transition that gunfire erupted inside Carreker East.
In an official statement, OSU Police Chief Michael Beckner said detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities have not disclosed details regarding a suspect, motive, or the number of shots fired.
Although the university did not issue a lockdown, students were urged to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity as law enforcement continues its search for those responsible. Counseling and crisis support services have been made available to students affected by the incident.
“This is a heartbreaking situation,” a university spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with those who were injured and their families as we come together as a community to support them.”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information or video footage from the Carreker East area between 3 and 4 a.m. to contact OSU Police at (405) 744-6523.
