PONTIAC, Mich. — A 37-year-old parent and two young children, aged 6 and 4, tragically lost their lives Friday evening in a devastating crash at the intersection of Montcalm Road and Joslyn Road in Pontiac. The fatal collision occurred around 8:20 p.m., when a 2022 Honda Civic, driven by a 21-year-old Pontiac resident, crossed into oncoming traffic for reasons still under investigation and struck a 2025 Chevrolet Malibu stopped at a red light.
Preliminary reports indicate the Honda left the roadway, colliding with several signs and poles before impacting the Malibu. The Malibu driver and the two young passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. A third child, aged 9, remains in critical condition at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. The Honda driver was hospitalized in stable condition.

Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard expressed his condolences to the victims’ family and the community, stating, “This unimaginable tragedy has taken the lives of a parent and two young children. Our investigators will work tirelessly to determine the full circumstances of this incident.” Investigators believe speed may have been a factor, while alcohol or drugs are still under review.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office continues to lead the investigation, urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward. The tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving and the fragile nature of life on the roads.
