CENTER, Texas — Authorities have identified Valarie Marshall, 57, of Timpson, as the victim of a deadly auto-pedestrian collision that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Center.
According to the Center Police Department, officers responded at about 4:09 p.m. on September 16, 2025, to the 900 block of Nacogdoches Street after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they found Marshall critically injured alongside a white GMC Terrain with visible front-end damage. The driver, identified as Jose Antonio-Roldan Torres, 37, of Nacogdoches, declined medical treatment at the scene.
Marshall was rushed by ambulance to the Shelby Emergency Department, where she was later pronounced dead. Her family has been notified of the tragedy.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the crash.
The Center Police Department is being assisted by Texas DPS Trooper Matt Chandler and deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.
