The Tiverton community is mourning the loss of Robert “Bob” Tolan, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong resident of Rhode Island, who passed away peacefully with his wife, Sara, by his side. Bob and Sara shared 38 years of marriage, standing together in love and strength until his final moments.
Born and raised in Tiverton, Bob was known for his deep roots in the community and his unwavering dedication to family, friends, and his work. A lifelong fisherman, Bob spent countless hours on the waters and shores of Rhode Island, pursuing his passion for fishing while also working for the State of Rhode Island, East Coast Construction, and C.A. Cabral Landscaping Supplies. His reliability, hard work, and love for the sea left a lasting mark on those around him.
Family was at the center of Bob’s life. He is survived by his wife, Sara; children Jessica Tolan (Tara Sullivan), Rachel Tolan, and Kyle Tolan (Kayla Piccolo); and his grandchildren Kassidi, Toby, Kameron, and Karsyn, with another granddaughter expected in January. His siblings William Tolan and Mary Ann Baptista, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, also mourn his passing.
Bob’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, teaching his grandchildren to fish, gardening, and hosting clam boils. Known for his warmth, humor, and generosity, he left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He also cherished his loyal dog, Abby, who frequently accompanied him on quiet days at home.
Honoring his final wishes, no formal services will be held. The Tolan family extends their gratitude to friends, relatives, and hospital staff for their support during Bob’s illness.
Robert “Bob” Tolan will be remembered for his hard work, his laughter, and his boundless love for family and community. His legacy of dedication, humility, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
