Toledo Woman Still at Large After Violent Attack on Boyfriend

Toledo, Ohio – Authorities are intensifying their search for 45-year-old Jeanita Hopings, who is being sought in connection with a brutal incident in which her boyfriend was severely injured in his own home.

According to police reports, the alleged attack occurred in the the early hours of October 7 on Boothbay Avenue. Hopings is accused of forcefully entering the residence by kicking in the front door and then assaulting her partner with a sharp instrument, inflicting a deep wound to his scrotal area. Emergency responders say one testicle was clearly exposed at the scene.

Investigators believe Hopings acted alone and that the weapon used was a kitchen knife or a similar household blade, though authorities have not confirmed the specific instrument. The victim, who was reportedly startled awake by the break-in, managed to summon help and was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

A warrant has been issued charging Hopings with felonious assault and aggravated burglary. She has not yet been apprehended and remains on the run. Officials caution that she may be dangerous and advise anyone with information to contact Toledo Police immediately.

Meanwhile, neighbors on Boothbay Avenue say they were awakened by loud banging and screaming in the middle of the night but did not at first realize what was unfolding just down the block. Some recalled seeing a dark vehicle speed away shortly afterward.

Police are now examining surveillance footage from nearby homes and local businesses, hoping to track her movements. They are also investigating whether Hopings may have fled into nearby rural areas or crossed into neighboring counties.

No motive has been confirmed. Authorities say they are exploring possible personal disputes or relationship tensions as contributing factors.

A point of concern is that Hopings has no known felony record, although she has past charges of traffic misdemeanors. Whether those previous records offer leads into her background or known associates is under review.
