PHILADELPHIA — A heartbreaking development has emerged in the search for 23-year-old Kada Scott, who went missing earlier this month. Authorities confirmed that human remains believed to belong to the young woman were discovered behind an abandoned school in East Germantown, Philadelphia.
According to officials, investigators located the remains on Saturday, October 18, following an anonymous tip that directed them to a wooded area behind the former Ada H. Lewis Middle School. The Philadelphia Police Department said the discovery was made during an extensive search that included K-9 units and forensic teams.

DNA testing has since provided a strong match to Scott’s family, though the Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to make a final confirmation.
Scott was last seen on October 4, when she left for her overnight shift at an assisted-living facility in the Chestnut Hill area. Her disappearance sparked a city-wide search effort and widespread concern among family members, friends, and community members who had been pleading for her safe return.
In connection with the case, police have arrested 21-year-old Keon King of Southwest Philadelphia. He has been charged with kidnapping, stalking, and related offenses and is currently being held on $2.5 million bail. Authorities are considering additional charges following the discovery of the remains.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner addressed the media on Monday, acknowledging that his office previously handled a case involving King that was later dismissed. He expressed regret over how that earlier case was managed and pledged a thorough prosecution this time.
Police officials said the investigation remains active, and they are urging anyone with information about Scott’s disappearance or King’s activities to come forward.
