According to authorities, Zaria was swept into a storm drain after a water main break led to powerful flooding along Bahia Vista Street. The force of the water carried her nearly 100 yards through the drainage system before she was rescued and rushed to All Children’s Hospital in critical condition. Despite emergency efforts, Zaria passed away, leaving family, friends, and neighbors in profound sorrow.
The water main break also prompted road closures and a boil water notice affecting dozens of local residents, as Sarasota County Public Utilities worked overnight to repair the damaged section of the street.
The Miller family expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support they have received during this tragic time. A fundraiser has been established to help cover Zaria’s medical and funeral expenses, as well as the family’s immediate needs.
