Upon arrival, officers heard sounds of a struggle emanating from inside the home, prompting them to force entry for an immediate intervention. Inside, they encountered the son, approximately 40 years old, actively assaulting his 62-year-old father with what authorities later identified as a pair of scissors. In response to the ongoing attack, at least one officer discharged their firearm, striking the son.

Officers quickly provided medical aid to both individuals—the father suffering from multiple stab wounds and the son from gunshot injuries—until Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after. Tragically, both were pronounced dead at the location, with no transports to hospitals reported. The scissors used in the assault were recovered and booked as evidence, underscoring the domestic nature of the violence.
