Authorities in Greene County, North Carolina, are investigating a devastating crash that claimed the life of 27-year-old Makaylah Dixon early Sunday morning after she was ejected from a vehicle and tragically landed in a tree.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Fort Run Road near Peanut Road, west of Snow Hill. Investigators say an eastbound SUV veered off the right side of the highway, over-corrected, crossed back over the road, and then overturned multiple times in a nearby peanut field.

Trooper A.H. Batchelor reported that Dixon was thrown from the vehicle during the violent rollover. In a heartbreaking twist, her body was found approximately six feet above the ground, lodged in a tree.
Authorities have not yet determined whether Dixon was driving or riding as a passenger at the time of the crash. They also confirmed that she did not own the SUV involved, leaving open questions about who may have been behind the wheel or if anyone else was present during the wreck.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether speed, distraction, or other factors played a role.
