Authorities have confirmed the identity of the woman who tragically lost her life in a crash on Illinois Route 2 as Faith Moore, 72, of Rockton, Illinois. The fatal accident, which occurred Saturday evening, remains under investigation as officials work to determine the circumstances that led to the vehicle overturning.
According to a statement from the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. when a northbound vehicle lost control just north of Wagon Wheel Road. The vehicle overturned and came to rest off the roadway. Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene and found a female passenger unresponsive inside the car. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at 10:34 p.m., after being officially confirmed deceased by the coroner’s office. An autopsy later revealed that Ms. Moore died from blunt force trauma to the head sustained in the crash.

The Rockton Police Department, Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, and the Winnebago County Major Crash Assistance Team are actively investigating the cause of the rollover. Officials have not released further details at this time.
