Pine Bluff, AR – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is investigating a deadly altercation that occurred Saturday afternoon at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center (DBDC) in Pine Bluff. The incident, which took place around 2:47 p.m. inside one of the facility’s housing areas, involved a violent altercation between multiple detainees, resulting in the deaths of two men.
During the fight, two detainees were fatally stabbed with foreign objects. Detention officers responded quickly, removing the victims from the scene and administering lifesaving measures until emergency responders arrived. Despite their efforts, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Darrion Williams and 22-year-old Jonathan Danard Harris. The deaths have shocked both the staff at the facility and the local community.
In response to the incident, the detention center was placed on lockdown, with staff securing the area and preserving evidence. Investigators have identified at least two other detainees who are believed to have been involved in the altercation. These individuals are currently being interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. expressed his sorrow over the tragic events, offering condolences to the families of the victims. “Today’s events are devastating,” Sheriff Woods said. “We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to determine what led to this senseless loss of life and to hold those responsible accountable.”
Members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, including Sheriff Woods and the facility chaplain, Lieutenant Anthony Craig, met with the victims’ families to provide support and inform them of the tragic news.
