Tragic Triple Murder-Suicide Shakes Portland’s Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood

Portland authorities have confirmed the identities of the victims in a devastating triple murder-suicide that occurred Saturday, September 6, 2025, in the Brentwood-Darlington area. The incident took place at a residence in the 7000 block of SE 64th Avenue.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered three individuals deceased: 22-year-old Miguel Morgan, his 48-year-old mother, Maria Florencia Rubio, and his 10-year-old sister, Liliana Morgan. Preliminary investigations indicate that Miguel Morgan fatally shot his mother and sister before taking his own life. All three appeared to have died from gunshot wounds.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit has taken control of the investigation. While the motive remains unclear, detectives are examining firearms, forensic evidence, and other details to piece together the events that led to this tragedy.

Portland Police Chief Bob Day expressed his condolences to the families and community:

“It saddens us deeply when we arrive too late to maybe intervene. Tonight, we’re saddened for the families and the loss. We’re saddened for this community.”

Neighbors in Brentwood-Darlington described the residence as quiet and expressed shock over the incident. Many are struggling to come to terms with the tragedy, which has also raised concerns about domestic violence and mental health within the community.
