The community of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, is mourning the death of Robert S. Wolgemuth, 87, who passed away following a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of Tubbs Mountain Road and State Park Road, a busy crossing that became the site of tragedy. Emergency responders arrived to find both vehicles heavily damaged and their drivers injured.
Wolgemuth was transported to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital with critical injuries but did not survive. The driver of the second vehicle was treated for injuries and is expected to recover.
Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
