Chicago, IL – A violent early morning shooting in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood has left two teenagers dead and a 21-year-old man injured, authorities confirmed Wednesday. The incident occurred in the 8100 block of South Marshfield Avenue, prompting a rapid response from local police.
Officers discovered the first victim, a 16-year-old boy, unresponsive on a second-floor back porch of a multi-unit residential building. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a 17-year-old boy, was found inside the same building, lying in a hallway with gunshot wounds to the head and chest. Emergency responders confirmed his death at the scene.

A 21-year-old man was located hiding under a bed within the apartment. He sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he is reported to be in fair condition. Authorities also noted that a 13-year-old boy was present during the shooting but was unharmed; he is assisting investigators as a potential eyewitness.
Investigators recovered multiple shell casings and blood evidence at the scene, indicating the involvement of multiple shooters. Police described the layout of the building as challenging, requiring careful documentation of the crime scene.
Neighbors recounted hearing gunfire between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m., with one resident describing the terror of gathering her children in fear while the shots rang out. Witnesses reported seeing three men fleeing the scene, though no suspects have been identified.
The Chicago Fire Department assisted with rescue and medical transport, ensuring the injured victim received prompt care. Area Two detectives are leading the investigation, and authorities have emphasized the need for public assistance in identifying the shooters.
