SCHUYLER COUNTY, NY — The community of Trumansburg is mourning the untimely death of 17-year-old Marcus Knight, who tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Monday, September 29, 2025. The crash occurred at approximately 11:46 a.m. on County Road No. 1 in Hector, when the 2010 Ford Fusion he was in failed to navigate a curve, leaving the roadway and striking several trees.
The driver, 18-year-old Michael Blake of Ithaca, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, where he remains hospitalized. Marcus was pronounced dead at the scene.

First responders, including the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, Trumansburg and Enfield Fire Departments, Trumansburg Ambulance, and the New York State Police accident reconstruction team, worked swiftly to secure the site. Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine what factors contributed to the tragedy.
