Wabaunsee County, Kansas — A tragic accident on Interstate 70 has claimed the lives of two Junction City residents. The crash occurred Monday morning around 11:30 a.m. when a Jeep Liberty, traveling eastbound, veered off the road into the median for reasons still under investigation. The vehicle struck a culvert, overturned, and collided with a Peterbilt semitrailer entering the interstate from an on-ramp.

Cheryl A. Martin, 63, and Perry A. Martin, 65, were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed.
