SNOW HILL, Md. — Tragedy struck Wednesday evening when Luke Jason Hawthorne, 18, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, and Munir Loyan Morris, 18, of Capital Heights, Maryland, both students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash in Worcester County.
The accident occurred at 8:18 p.m. on September 3, 2025, on Nassawango Road near Camp Road. A 2016 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, traveling southbound, failed to navigate a curve, leaving the roadway and colliding with multiple trees.

Luke Hawthorne was pronounced dead at the scene, while Munir Morris was airlifted by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command to Tidal Health in Salisbury, where he later succumbed to his injuries. No other individuals were involved in the crash.
