Newmarket, Ontario — Four individuals have been taken into custody following a jewelry store robbery at Upper Canada Mall on Wednesday afternoon that ended in a three-vehicle collision on Highway 404, York Regional Police (YRP) confirmed.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., officers received reports of a commercial robbery at the mall, where five suspects entered a jewelry store and stole an unknown quantity of merchandise. During the incident, two victims were pepper-sprayed, though their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, prompting YRP to pursue the car along Highway 404 near Steeles Avenue East. Law enforcement coordinated with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), who responded to a collision involving three vehicles on the southbound lanes of Highway 404 at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Following the collision, officers successfully arrested four suspects. Authorities confirmed that one suspect remains at large, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individual.
York Regional Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the fifth suspect to contact authorities. The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be laid as the case develops.
