Jackson, Mississippi — The Jackson Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon on the 900 block of Cooper Road. The victim has been identified as Melvin Bass.
According to authorities, officers were called to the scene following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Bass suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the suspect or suspects fled in a white Honda sedan. Detectives are currently working to locate the vehicle and identify those responsible.
