WAKARUSA, Indiana — The community of Wakarusa is grieving the loss of Kim Sellers, 56, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, after a seven-year battle with cancer. Known for her resilience, faith, and unwavering love for family, Kim leaves behind a legacy that touched countless lives.
Born on January 10, 1969, in Bremen, Indiana, Kim excelled as a multi-sport athlete, earning recognition in volleyball, basketball, and tennis. She was a 1987 Bremen High School graduate and a member of the Bremen High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Continuing her athletic pursuits at Huntington University, she competed in tennis, basketball, and softball while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1991. Her contributions were later honored with induction into the Huntington University Athletic Hall of Fame. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Olivet Nazarene University.
Kim married Norm Sellers on August 13, 1994, and together they raised three sons—Trent, Chad, and Kyle—instilling in them the values of love, perseverance, and family. Her greatest joy was supporting her children, whether at school, on the athletic field, or during family adventures.
Professionally, Kim dedicated herself to teaching 4th grade at Bremen Public Schools, where her patience, enthusiasm, and warmth left a lasting mark on generations of students. Colleagues remember her as an educator who went beyond academics, nurturing confidence, curiosity, and kindness in every child.
Outside the classroom, Kim cherished simple joys—beach trips with her family, ski adventures in Northern Michigan, creative pursuits in art and pottery, and time spent with her beloved dogs, Wrigley and River.
Kim is survived by her husband, Norm; her three sons, Trent (Alexis), Chad (Kylie), and Kyle; her brother, Dr. Kevin (Heidi) Hickman; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sue Hickman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, from 3–7 p.m. at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel, and again on Wednesday, September 3, from 10–11 a.m. at the Nappanee Missionary Church Worship Center. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Mike Raasch, with interment at Bremen Cemetery.
