Authorities in West Palm Beach, Florida, are investigating a tragic incident that resulted in the death of 18-year-old Te’shawn Harris following a date-related meet-up that escalated into an attempted burglary.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call around 2:55 a.m. on August 8, 2024, reporting a man shot in the middle of the road near the intersection of 6th Street and Date Palm Drive. Harris was found lying in a dirt median with a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead shortly after 3 a.m.

A second call came in at 3:50 a.m. from a man who reported firing a shot at two men attempting to carjack him near a park in Riviera Beach. Deputies identified two witnesses, 21-year-old Berlin Noel and 21-year-old Henry Cannon III, who provided details of the events leading to Harris’ death.
Investigators learned that Noel had been communicating on Instagram with someone he suspected was impersonating a woman. He arranged to meet the person near his home in Lake Park and asked Harris and Cannon to accompany him for safety. According to witness statements, a black truck arrived, and as Harris approached the rear door, the driver, fearing a carjacking, fired a single shot that struck Harris.
Further investigation revealed that Harris and Cannon were attempting an unarmed theft from the vehicle, motivated by a $700 exchange discussed in messages. Deputies say surveillance and communication records confirmed their intention to commit the burglary, classifying them as the perpetrators in the fatal incident.
Following the investigation, deputies found probable cause to charge both Cannon and Noel with felony murder in connection to Harris’ death. Authorities continue to review evidence as the case progresses through the legal system.
