White City, OR – Jackson County authorities are investigating the fatal stabbing of 72-year-old Edward Dean Rowan at a mobile home park on Avenue G Saturday night, October 25.
Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a 911 call at 9:37 p.m., arriving alongside Mercy Flights medics, who attempted life-saving measures. Rowan was pronounced deceased around 10:12 p.m. Authorities have confirmed that next of kin have been notified.

The suspect, later identified as Rowan’s 46-year-old son, Jason Samuel Rowan, initially fled the scene, prompting a nearly five-hour manhunt assisted by the Medford Police K9 and Drone Teams and law enforcement from multiple agencies including OSP, CPPD, MPD, and Eagle Point Police. The suspect was located walking near Avenue C and 28th Street and arrested without incident at 2:26 a.m.
Jason Rowan is now charged with second-degree murder and lodged in the Jackson County Jail. The Jackson County Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit (MADIU), comprising detectives from several agencies and the District Attorney’s Office, continues to assist with the investigation.
Authorities have stated that there is no threat to the public as the suspect is in custody, and no further information is being released at this time.
