LEBANON, Tenn. – The Wilson County community is mourning the loss of Kathy Hitt Moody, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the age of 78.
Kathy was widely known for her kind heart, deep faith, and dedication to family and friends. A lifelong Christian, she was a devoted member of Berea Church of Christ, where she actively participated in church life and built lasting friendships through her faith.

Throughout her career, Kathy worked with Sears and later as a hostess at Cracker Barrel, where her friendly personality made her a favorite among customers and coworkers. She also found fulfillment in caring for others as a personal caregiver, a role that reflected her compassionate nature.
Those close to her described Kathy as someone who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing bingo, solving word search puzzles, collecting owl-themed items, and listening to country music. Her cheerful spirit and welcoming smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Kathy is survived by her children, J.T. (Shana) Moody and Kim (Chris) Trusty; her sister, Cindy (Lee) Mangrum; grandchildren, Reilly Moody (Hadley) Allison and Raegan Moody; niece, Abbey Mangrum-Morris; and great-nephew, Tucker Morris. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jeffie Hitt, and her beloved pet, Snickers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Partlow Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. conducted by Brother Kevin White. Burial will take place on Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include J.T. Moody, Chris Trusty, Lee Mangrum, Tucker Morris, and Jerry Eddy, while honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of Berea Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Leash on Life at newleashonline.org in Kathy’s memory.
