
A tragic accident in downtown Yakima early Saturday morning claimed the life of 28-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Baez after he was struck by a vehicle, authorities confirmed.
The Yakima Police Department reported that officers responded around 1:40 a.m. to the 100 block of South Second Street, where they found Baez in a parking lot with severe injuries consistent with being hit by a car. Despite immediate efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later located the suspect’s vehicle in the Moxee area and identified the driver as a 29-year-old man, who was arrested and booked into Yakima County Jail on charges of Vehicular Homicide. Investigators revealed that the suspect and Baez had reportedly been involved in an argument at a local bar earlier that night.
